The Blame Game

It could never have been you, it could never have been me.

But it was one of us that put an end to a beautiful story,

a beautiful tale that could have lasted forever.

A tragic end to a tremendous beginning,

all beauty lost in the vile spoils of a game neither one of us could ever win,

but alas we played anyway,

a battle of the ages.

And so our backs were turned,

each to their own with nothing but broken pieces, pain and hate,

crushed to dust,

all that remained was the game,

the blame game that took with it what was left of us…
