Float like a butterfly, Sting like a bee

“A woman must never be heard, she must be seen,” I think this saying has been tossed in my face since I can remember, probably because growing up I was a very vocal person (still am). funniest thing though about this is that it was always women saying it to me, a man never did not even once. I find this a bit disturbing, who am I kidding, I find it very disturbing. The saying itself is preposterous, but the fact that its usually brought out by women is even worse. We whine a lot, about how the world has no respect for us, how we are never recognized in our own right. How can the world show us respect, when we don’t show it to ourselves, when we believe that we belong in the background of the greatest show on earth, “LIFE.”

Muhammad Ali, greatest boxer of our time, before fighting George Foreman in 1974, said he would float like a butterfly and sting like a bee. He was light on his feet, moved with such grace and elegance. I believe this made his opponents think they could actually take him, yet he packed a mean punch that always left them flustered. Butterflies when in flight, move, flutter with the lightest of motion, Always graceful, full of confidence, up, down and sideways, never faultering, and when they do they take time to find their footing and take flight again when ready. Bees on the other hand will sting, often coming from nowhere leaving behind an experience you will never forget. I believe a woman should be like this, in a positive manner ofcourse. Beautiful yet amazingly powerful, she must be able to express herself because she has confidence in her very existence.

This is not to say that you must feel the need to be heard at all time, to talk and never listen, that is not confidence, that is loud, amd their is nothing elegant about loud. Instead be the sort of woman that is perceptive, confident and leaves an amazing impact in peoples lives. Let them remember the encounter, let them remember the conversation but most of all let them remember the woman…
